India bans 118 Chinese apps, PUBG Mobile was on the top.

On Wednesday, India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology issued a decision to ban 118 Chinese applications, led by the game PUBG Mobile.

This decision comes from the Indian government after it recently banned 59 applications of Chinese companies such as Tencent, Edu and Xiaomi.

“In light of the available information, these applications participate in activities affecting the sovereignty and integrity of India, state security and public order,” the ministry said in an official statement.

Reports indicated that the Indian government has received many complaints about the misuse of some applications in smartphones, in order to illegally steal user data and transfer it to servers outside India.

The PUBG Mobile game was the most popular application that was banned, in addition to PUBG Lite, the famous AppLock application as well, and the WeChat messaging application.

India is the largest market for the game, according to estimates by Sensor Tower, as the game has achieved more than 175 million downloads in India, and 24% of the total game downloads.

During the last period, India had banned other applications, including the popular video-sharing app Tik Tok, and a war broke out between fans of the Tik Tok application in India with youtubers from the same country.

It is noteworthy that India has taken during the past few days a series of measures aimed at imposing punitive measures on various Chinese sectors in light of the border tension between the two countries.
